Why is there a popping sound when a joint is adjusted?
Adjustment of a joint may result in release of gas bubbles between the joints that make a popping sound – it’s exactly the same as when you “crack” your knuckles. The noise is caused by the change of pressure within the joint that results in gas bubbles being released. There is no pain involved.

Chiropractic Treatments
The doctors at Yucha Medical Pain Management & Chiropractic Rehabilitation are experts in treating numerous problems with chiropractic treatments. Using drug-free methods, the doctors here will work with you to solve your pain whether it is in your back, neck, legs, arms, or any other place that may be causing you problems. Chiropractic treatment works to reduce or relive all pain felt from the following:
Headaches & Migraines
Perform spinal manipulation for tension headaches and other headaches that originate in the neck to alleviate stress on the body's system.
Provide nutritional advice and recommending a change in diet.
Offer advice on posture, ergonomics, exercises, and relaxation techniques to help relieve joint irritation and tension in the muscles of the neck and upper back.
Sciatica
Persistent pain that is felt along the sciatic nerve, the longest and widest nerve running throughout the human body that runs down the lower leg, through the buttocks and hip area, and into the legs. This nerve controls the muscles of the lower leg and provides sensations to the thighs, legs, and soles of the feet. Sciatica is a set of symptoms for what is irritating the nerve root and causing pain. A treatment plan is individualized to meet the available symptoms, and often a combination of treatments will used.
Ice/Heat Therapy: reduces inflammation and helps to control sciatic pain.
Ultrasound: gentle heat created by sound waves that penetrates deep into tissues. Increases circulation and helps to reduce muscle spasms, cramping, swelling, stiffness, and pain.
TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation): small, box-like, battery-powered, portable, muscle-stimulating machine. Variable intensities of electrical current controls acute pain and reduces muscular spasms.
Spinal Manipulation (Adjustments): Free restricted movement of the spine to help restore misaligned vertebral bodies to their proper position in the spinal column. Reduce nerve irritability.
Stretches and Exercises
Deep Tissue Massage of the Piriformis Muscle: a muscle in the gluteal region of the lower limb and one of the six muscles on the hip.
Herniated Disc
When the soft inner material of a spinal disc, the support between each vertebrae, ruptures. Most often the bulge is not noticed until it is impinging the surrounding nerve roots. Chiropractic treatment methods include:
Locate subluxations (one or more bones of the spine that have moved out of position) and reduce or correct them.
Provide exercises that can help shrink the bulge so it can return to normal.
Lower Back Pain
Eighty percent of people will suffer from back pain at some point in their lives. It is the second most common reason for doctor's visits. If back pain is not treated, it might temporarily disappear, but it will not fully go away on its own. Continuous long-term low-back pain is not normal and is usually a sign of an underlying problem. The most common cause of low back pain is the body being out of alignment for a prolonged period of time. This leads to the body not being able to move properly, which leads to tightened muscles that spasm, bones that move into the wrong places, the development of arthritis, and irritated and compressed nerves.
Adjust the lower lumbar vertebrae and pelvis to re-establish normal motion and position of the body's bones and joints.
Pinched Nerves
At Yucha Medical Pain Management & Chiropractic Rehabilitation, massage therapy is one of the treatments that is used to heal patients. Massage therapy has become a vital part of the health care practice as it works to heal not only the body but also the mind and emotional states. Below are some of the problems that Yucha Chiropractic treats with massage therapy.
Upper Back & Neck Pain
Problems in the neck can contribute to headaches, muscle spasms in the shoulder and upper back, ringing in the ears, otitis media (inflammation of the middle ear), temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ), restricted range of motion, tennis elbow, and chronic tightness in the neck and upper back. Neck and upper back problems can be caused by an injury (most commonly whiplash), poor posture, subluxations, stress, and disc problems. Chiropractic treatment for neck and upper back pain is very effective.
Adjust the cervical vertebrae and upper back to re-establish normal motion and position of your bones and joints.
Combine trigger point therapy and an exercise and postural program to ensure long-term resolution tot the neck and back pain.
Whiplash
An injury mechanism of rapid, sudden whipping back of the neck followed by an immediate "whipping" forward of the neck that results in damage to the muscles, ligaments, and tendons. The movements occur so fast that the protective mechanisms of the neck are unable to protect itself and damage occurs. Chiropractic care utilizes:
Manual manipulation of the spine to restore the normal movement and position of the spinal vertebrae.
Massage therapy
Trigger point therapy
Exercise rehabilitation
Other soft tissue rehabilitation modalities
Chiropractic treatment is for more than relieving pain from existing problems. It is also a way to live a healthier life. For that reason, chiropractic care is a great choice for aiding with other areas of life to help with nutrition guidance, symptom relief, and health optimizing care.
Pregnancy/ Pre-Natal
During pregnancy a woman's center of gravity shifts to the front of her pelvis. This can lead to additional weight in the front can put extra stress on her pelvic joints, lower back, and nervous system. As the baby grows, this can cause the curvature of the lower back to increase, which will place additional stress on the back of the spine. Chiropractic care is a safe and natural approach to help pregnant women though the rigors of pregnancy and childbirth. Chiropractic treatment during pregnancy and childbirth has been shown to:
Help maintain pregnancy
Control vomiting
Help or stop premature contractions
Reduce the need for pain medication during pregnancy by half
Release in utero constraint, facilitating the turning of breeching babies
Shorten labor by 25 to 60 percent
Reduce the incidence of back labor
Reduce the amount of pain medication during labor
Help make delivery more comfortable
Stress
Much of the stress experienced comes from everyday responsibilities, and whether it develops physically, chemically, or emotionally, it is not always apparent to the person it is affecting. However, it still strains the body by increasing blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, metabolism, and blood flow to the muscles. If these conditions are constantly present, it can make the person more susceptible to life-threatening health problems such as: insomnia, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, muscle tension, and bowel problems. Chiropractic treatment helps to:
Raise the natural resistance to disease by removing a serious interference to your proper body function.
Release muscle tension and help the body return to a more balanced, relaxed state.
Reduce spinal nerve irritation and improve blood circulation.
Recommend a diet plan that could help the body cope with stress.
